And the winner is... The draw for the limited-edition Titleist cart bag we’ve had in store for the last few weeks took place on Saturday night. The winner of this great looking golf bag was Ryan Edison, who chose lucky number 12, which was the number drawn as the bonus ball in Saturday's Lottery Draw. Congratulations, Ryan! If your golf doesn’t grab people’s attention, your golf bag definitely will.

Captain/Pro Qualifier Club Captain Mark Kidston and I played in the Captain/Pro South Region qualifying event at Royal Ascot Golf Club last Wednesday. It was very wet! It did not stop raining from our first hole to our last, but in a strange way, it was still an enjoyable day. Neither of us had played the course before which added to the challenge, but in general, our golf wasn’t too bad. The format was better ball Stableford, and there were a couple of holes we both didn’t play so well at the same time, which damaged our score. Mark played nicely given the conditions, driving the ball well, and holing a few crucial putts. It was never going to be easy, and it showed, with the best scores on the day coming from the early starters who missed a lot of the bad weather. I’d just like to say a big thanks to Mark for playing. It was a pleasure playing alongside you; just a shame it wasn’t in the sunshine. It is Captain’s Weekend this weekend, and it is obviously going to be a very different occasion to previous events, which is such a shame for Mark and our Ladies Captain Jacky Levinson. I hope you both enjoy the weekend, the weather is kind and that everyone who plays has fun. |

Wrong shaft? The most common place golfers go wrong is in the amount of flex they have in their golf club’s shaft. A golfer using a shaft that is too flexible may experience a ball flight that is too high, a ball that spins too much, or a shot pattern that has inconsistent dispersion. On the contrary, a golfer using a shaft that is too stiff will experience ball flight trajectory that is too low, golf balls that do not spin as much as desired, tending to give a fading ball flight, and/or a lack of distance potential. Ultimately, golfers want something in the middle, a club shaft offering impressive distance on their drives, giving them control over where the ball goes directionally while optimizing ball flight and accuracy. If you think you may be holding yourself back by using the wrong shaft for your golf game, why not pop in and see us to discuss your options, or click below to book a club fitting.

Popov and DJ in leagues of their own There are sporting shocks, and then there’s the World No. 304 winning a Major! Germany’s Sophia Popov finished on -7 at Royal Troon to claim victory at the AIG Women’s Open. Despite having never won on the LPGA or Ladies European Tour before, the 27-year-old fought off challenges from stars like World No. 8 Minjee Lee and seven-time Major Champion Inbee Park. Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour, Dustin Johnson won The Northern Trust, the first FedEx Cup playoff event, by shooting a staggering -30. That ended up being an 11-stroke victory, which raises the age-old question of what’s more entertaining:
An all-out birdie fest or tough, battling golf? Shooting these sort of scores requires immense confidence in your game. So, if there's a part of yours that you're particularly struggling with, send us a message below and we'll be happy to help.
