Welcome to another edition of our newsletter from here in the pro shop at South Beds Golf Club. This week we look at why Patrick Reed was in the news from the right and wrong reasons and also take a look at why a change-up in your irons could be a good thing this season. Enjoy the read. |
Titleist fitting day - Friday, 20 March Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take advantage of a no-obligation FREE custom fit session with a Titleist custom fit expert during our fitting day on Friday, 20 March. We only have three appointments remaining, and these can be booked by clicking here. If you have any issues booking online, give us a call in the pro shop and hopefully we can help. You can get a fitting for wedges, irons or woods, and we will be in touch with those that have booked an appointment nearer the time to confirm your selection. If you don’t manage to get an appointment, feel free to come up to the practice area at any time between 10.00am and 2.30pm and try out the whole range if you wish. I will be around all day to answer any questions and pass on a few tips.

Brooks puts his foot down Despite not swinging a club over the weekend, world number two Brooks Koepka still made plenty of headlines when he called out Patrick Reed for cheating. During a fascinating live interview last week, he said: “I don't know what he was doing, building sandcastles in the sand, but you know where your club is.” The incident relates to the Hero World Challenge when Reed was handed a two-stroke penalty for appearing to improve his lie in the bunker – an incident which Reed maintains was merely a mistake. Former TV analyst Peter Kostis waded in claiming he has seen Reed "improve his lie four times now’."
However, it seems to have motivated Reed who went on to silence his critics winning the WGC Mexico Championship by a single shot from Bryson DeChambeau. But with foul play in the headlines, we want to know whether you think there is a difference between breaking the rules and cheating? Click here to take the poll |
Fancy playing in a Pro-Am?
I am looking to play a lot more golf this year than I have over the last few years, which means I will be taking part in some Pro-Am’s around the East Region. Click here to see what Pro-Am’s are available to enter and if you have any questions just give me a call. If you fancy getting a team of 3 together and playing alongside me at an event, get in touch and we will get ourselves entered. Click here to email me regarding Pro-Am's. |

Captain/Pro challenge & other options... As well as the Professional tournaments I will be playing Captain/Pro Challenge matches (dates still to be confirmed), 9 Hole ‘play with the pro’ rounds, as well as entering into a few of the South Beds Golf Club medals and stablefords that are taking place throughout the year. If you would like to join me in any of these, come and see me and we should be able to sort out a game. Click here if you'd like a game with me.

New Titleist bags Our new Titleist cart and carry bags have arrived in store. As you can imagine, with the weather being the way it has, the Titleist StaDry bags have been proving to be the most popular. We obviously don’t have many trolley bans at South Beds Golf Club, but the carry bags have been more in demand than previous years due to the restrictions in place when visiting other golf courses. If you have never had a waterproof golf bag before, pop into the shop and see the fantastic quality and great colours available.

Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
| Tension whilst gripping | Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
|
| Limited time offer in-store now | We know it sounds all doom and gloom, but it does make a huge difference to your game. That's why we're running this promotion at South Beds Golf Club, so you can experience the benefits of a new grip first hand.
There’s no catch, just pop by the shop before your next round to take advantage. |
