Warden Course If any of you have been out on the Warden Course (Nine Hole) over the last week or so, you will have seen that the course improvements works have started taking place. Over the last few years the course has probably not had the attention that it should have had, and has been looking a little tired and worn recently. That is about to change! The size of the greens has been increased which will allow a greater variety of pin placements, and also bring the natural contours of the land more into play, returning the greens back to the fast and undulating greens they used to be. The teeing areas are being improved with levelling and reseeding taking place, and all of tee boxes will have new tee signage (opportunity for local businesses to advertise) and markers over the next few months, as well as new course furniture including bins, ball washers and benches. The most visible change you will see at the moment are the changes to the bunkers. A few are going to be filled in, creating grass bunkers and run off areas, and those that are staying as sand bunkers are being re-modelled. There is a chance that we will gradually add a few more bunkers over the coming years once we assess how the course plays when the new changes have been completed. The aim is to create a golf course that is a pleasure to play for members and green fee payers, which can be used for social golf, tournament play and coaching sessions, and one that can act as a feeder course offering new golfers a pathway to full membership of the Galley Course. Next time you have a round on the Warden Course pop into the pro shop after and give us your feedback on the changes, and let us know of any ideas that you have that could further improve the facility. |
