Competition news

Cleveley Trophy

The Cleveley Trophy is the clubs summer knockout competition open to men and ladies. To enter the competition you will need to register in the pro shop before the closing date which is not far away.

Obviously competitions like this are a great way of testing your golf game with the aim of winning a trophy, but it’s not always about winning. The knockout tournaments tend to be a great format for meeting members of the club you might not necessarily come across during the times you choose to play, giving you the opportunity to make new friends and grow your network within the club.

Online Booking System

Our recently introduced online booking system for lessons, club fittings and gapping sessions is proving to be a popular way for you all to book your appointments with us. For example, at 11pm last night a wedge fitting was booked for the 4th March.

Club crested clothing for Men, Ladies and Vets

The club match season is almost upon us, so it’s that time of year when you search your wardrobe for your club crested polo shirt and sweater. Some of you may have a look at your shirt and think you could do with an upgrade, or some of you might be representing a section of the club for the first time and not possess a club crested shirt or sweater. We are in the process of placing orders for shirts and sweaters for the men’s, ladies and vets sections, so if you would like to get yourself a nice new shirt or sweater to start the season, come in and see us to place your order.

We will be using the Glenmuir Deacon polo-shirt for men and the Glenmuir Paloma polo-shirt for ladies as our stock crested shirt for the year ahead, and this shirt will include our newly designed club crest - All sweaters and sleeveless sweaters will also include the new crest.

Golf ball lottery

We have a handful of numbers remaining for our monthly golf ball lottery, where the winner will receive 15 Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. It costs £1 to enter and the winner will be the person who has the number that matches the National Lottery Bonus Ball number drawn on Saturday night.

New Season – New Grips

We are starting to take delivery of all of the new (and forever popular) iron/wood and putter grips as the golfing season starts.

A worn or slick grip on your golf club can have a major impact on your golf swing and performance. Increased grip pressure to ensure the club is secure will decrease the speed of the club head and cause a loss of distance. Worn grips may also slip in your hands, causing the club head to shift from square and result in off-centre strikes and a decrease in shot accuracy.

Get a grip. Literally...

The winds of change

As we make our way through February, you may begin to notice feeling warmer at the end of a round compared to previous weeks.
