Ladies Captain The Ladies AGM and presentation evening took place last week, and it was also the time of year when the role of the current Ladies Captain comes to an end. The Pro Shop would like to say a big thank you to this year’s Captain Barbara Dulson; you’ve been a great Captain, a pleasure to work with, and we hope you managed to enjoy your year. The incoming Ladies Captain is Val Wing, with Jacky Levinson becoming Vice-Captain. Val, we wish you and Jacky a stress free and enjoyable year ahead; if we can help in any way you know where we are. Congratulations to all who managed to pick up a trophy at the end of year presentation. It seems to have been a successful year for the Ladies Section. Hopefully the group coaching sessions we have done this year have helped a few of you; I know the feedback has been very positive. We will be doing a lot more from the start of 2019, and hopefully we can continue to grow the success of South Beds Ladies Section. |
Captain Pro challenge matches Doug and I played our last challenge match a couple of weeks ago against John McPoland and Bob Russell. John and Bob who are regular participants in this event played extremely well on the day and won a very close game on the last hole. John and Bob are always great company and it was good to see them both play so nicely. Well done gentlemen. So, at the end of the series of matches Roger Keen and Chris Constantinou have come out on top. Congratulations on your win gentlemen; Doug and I will be presenting you with the winner’s trophy at presentation evening which takes place this Friday. Doug and I would like to say thank you to all of this year’s participants; it’s been a pleasure competing with some regular, and some new faces. The money taken in entry fees all goes to Doug’s Charity for the year, so thanks again. Next year you will have the chance to take on myself and the incoming Captain, Mick Mackey. Dates will be made available in early 2019. Hopefully plenty of you take us on and we can raise a nice amount money for Mick’s chosen charity. |
Pro Shop Christmas draw Our annual Pro Shop Christmas Draw is now up and running. Every year there are great prizes to be won, with the winner of 1st prize last year getting their hands on a Motocaddy electric trolley. The draw for prizes will take place in the clubhouse at approximately 1.00pm on Boxing Day. Good luck! |
The popular Motocaddy mittens are now back in stock. These comfortable, fleece lined mittens are perfect for the colder months as they provide maximum warmth whilst being fully compatible with all Motocaddy models. Motocaddy ran out of these very early into the winter season last year so I’d recommend getting yours sooner rather than later if you were thinking of making a purchase. |

Westwood wins again Lee Westwood rolled back the years to claim his first European Tour title since 2014, as he shot a flawless final round of 64 to win the Nedbank Challenge. The Englishman carded six birdies and an eagle on Sunday, finishing three shots clear of overnight leader Sergio Garcia, who finished on 12-under. Westwood, who is a former World Number One, mentioned in his post-round interview that he has "got a bit of a process" he’s going through with his golf swing, which is helping him see and hit better shots. It goes to show that it’s never too late to make swing changes, even if you’re a top golfer.

Just remarkable... With the new Rules of Golf coming into play in January 2019, it’s more important than ever to pay close attention to the laws of the game; something which European Tour hopeful Gian-Marco Petrozzi found out the hard way last week. Petrozzi missed out on a potential place in the final stage of Q-School, after being penalised two strokes for ‘improving his line of play’. The Englishman was playing his final hole and had to hit a shot over a fairway bunker – to pace his yardage, he walked through the bunker and then raked his footprints in the sand before hitting his shot, resulting in an infringement of Rule 13-2 (improving your line of play). If you’re ever unsure of a ruling whilst out on the course, be sure to give the pro shop a call or come and speak to us after your round.

It's time to stop putting it off - Christmas is getting closer and closer, so you need to consider what will be going under the tree later this year. We're not just talking about the presents that you buy for loved ones and friends, but also what you want to be unwrapping come December 25th. |
| Garmin Approach S10 | A golfer who is not utilising the immense help that a GPS device provides is putting themselves at a major disadvantage over their playing partners. Knowing how far you have to the green (front, middle and back) as well as hazards is vital to hitting your next shot with confidence, which you can get from the Approach S10. |
| Garmin Approach S60 | If, however, you want a little bit more style and information from your GPS then we'd suggest Garmin's Approach S60. The choice of straps means you can choose one to suit your lifestyle off the course, whilst its full-colour maps and touchscreen face eliminates any guesswork during your round. |
