How often do you drive to the course thinking about how your last game of golf went? You gather up all the negatives from your previous round - the lost balls, the three putts, the duffed bunker shot - which immediately puts you on the back foot before you've even teed off.

No matter how bad you've played in recent weeks, each round is different and there's no reason as to why your next won't see your handicap drop. Take Thorbjørn Olesen for example…

Having made just three of his last 12 cuts, the 26-year-old Dane produced some sublime golf en-route to winning the Turkish Airlines Open over the weekend. It's not the first time that Olesen has triumphed off the back of some horrid form; he also won the Alfred Dunhill Links last year following a run of 13 missed cuts in 18 events.

It just goes to show that the saying is true: form is temporary, class is permanent. If there's one lesson to be learnt from this then it's to start each round with renewed optimism and confidence that you're going to play well.

Ladies Section 

This week sees Linda Basquill's term as Ladies Captain come to an end. Everyone associated with the Pro Shop would like to say thank you for being a great Captain to deal with; we hope your year has been a successful and enjoyable one, and we wish you all the best for the future. 

Congratulations to Christine Goode; the incoming Ladies Captain. We hope that the year ahead gives you plenty of joy, very little stress, and a successful time on and off the golf course.

Annual Winners 

Friday evening sees this year's trophy winners get recognition for their achievements at the clubs annual presentation evening. Congratulations to all of the prize winners; I look forward to seeing you all collecting your trophies. 

Even if you weren't among the winners this year, feel free to come up to the golf club on Friday night to support your friends and fellow members, and have an enjoyable evening.



Pro Shop Christmas Draw 

The Pro Shop Christmas Draw tickets will be available from this Saturday. The draw will take place in the clubhouse on Boxing Day, with a selection of fantastic prizes up for grabs. 

Last year's top prize ticket was purchased by Past Captain Brian Thompson, who won himself a Motocaddy electric trolley; a great way to start the New Year. Pop into the Pro Shop, and give yourself a chance of getting your hands on a bonus present this Christmas.
