Lombard Trophy
Keith Johnson and I played in the Lombard Trophy Qualifying event (Britain's Largest Pro-Am) at Thetford Golf Club in Suffolk on Wednesday.
We played pretty decent golf but just couldn't get the ball in the hole on the front 9, which left us too much work to do on the back 9.
We made a few more birdies on the way in, but unfortunately it was never going to be enough after our slow start. The winning score was -11 for better ball medal; pretty impressive scoring on what turned out to be a warm but blustery day.
Thanks Keith for a very enjoyable day; hopefully you enjoyed it as much as I did, and got something out of it that will help you in your quest to reduce your handicap even further.
Men's Scratch Team
The men's scratch team (Dave Philpot, Luke Charnley, Alex Elliott, Ben Evans and Paul Burr) were victorious in their most recent summer league game at home against The Bedfordshire last weekend to, winning 4 ½ - ½. That makes it four wins from four games played, which pretty much guarantees promotion back to the top division. Well done lads; another great performance.
The Knebworth Gold Bowl takes place at Knebworth Golf Club this Saturday (16th), and the Scratch Team will be represented in this 36 hole event by Paul Kirkwood, Ian Tottingham, and the 2016 Club Champion Rob Hoar. Good luck gentlemen; bring back that bowl.
If you've got no plans for this Saturday, and fancy watching some very good players making their way around a nice golf course, head over to Knebworth.
£10 polo shirt trade in
This week I am bringing you yet another fantastic offer...
Do you have an old polo shirt at home that you would not dare let anyone see you wearing on the course for fear of ridicule and embarrassment?
Well fear no more.
If you bring that shirt in to us at the pro shop we will take it off your hands and give you £10 OFF any shirt in store...
We have a great selection of polo shirts in store at the minute, so bring along any old polo shirt next time you're at the club and treat yourself to nice new one.

No spin around the greens?
With the current weather conditions making the grass around the greens grow at a seriously fast rate, getting control of the golf ball when pitching and chipping is essential.
You won't be able to do that if you are not using wedges with the correct amount of loft, or if the grooves on the club face are worn out. Pop into the shop to speak to us about trying out the new Titleist and Cleveland wedges, with lofts ranging from 46 degrees all the way up to 64 degrees.
I'm sure you'll be very impressed with the increase in spin and control, which can only lead to lower scores!
Get in touch here if you would like to book a fitting.
